Frac tanks are common in a great deal of industries. They are used for storing liquids, slurries, and solids. Frac tanks are made of steel and are available in different sizes that range from 8,400 gallons to 21,000 gallons. They are portable and can be moved and transported either by a tractor or truck. There are various types of frac tanks depending on their use. These tanks are designed with a “V” or round bottom so that the slurry of solid material can gravitate towards the bottom center area of the tank.
In essence, the shape configuration helps with the removal of the material. Some frac tanks are designed as a tank/truck trailer and have an axle and wheels at one end so that a tractor or truck can connect directly to the frac tank and move it around. There are actually a bunch of different types of frac tanks available in order to serve multiple functions. However, all frac tanks are strong enough to withstand the demanding environment that they are used in. Some frac tanks are more or less suited for non- hazardous materials and require more inspection and frac tank cleaning.
There are different size tanks that vary in capacity. Some frac tanks are better suited for slurries and solid materials, while other frac tanks are designed for fuels and acids. Whatever the specific need, there is a tank that’s suited for the job. Although the most obvious use of a frac tank is for water storage and treatment at fracking sites, their uses go well beyond the fracking industry. For example, frac tanks can be used to store large quantities of water. Storing more water on site can significantly reduce transportation costs.
That means a frac tank is incredibly useful in almost any industry that has large-scale water storage needs such as farming. Last but certainly not least, frac tanks need to be cleaned and inspected on a regular basis depending on the materials that are stored within them. It should be noted that frac tank cleaning should only be performed by professional technicians who have been properly trained and have plenty of experience working within the confines of a frac tank. Otherwise, you are taking an unnecessary risk. Working in small areas and around unstable materials can be dangerous to say the least.
