Hydro Excavation is Fast, Effective and Environmentally Friendly

Did you know that hydro excavation is fast, effective, and environmentally friendly? It’s also a lot less expensive than the traditional excavation method. When you consider all of these factors, hydro excavation is the best choice for all of your excavation related jobs including digging foundations and trenches. It’s particularly useful in the construction industry and for laying underground utilities such as cables, pipes, and wires. So, what exactly is hydro excavation and how is it faster, more effective and better for the environment?

In essence, hydro excavation eliminates the need for heavy-duty construction trucks such as backhoes, excavators, and commercial dump trucks. In addition, hydro excavation is so precise and laser like that it all but eliminates the need for backfilling. The bottom line is that you can get rid of the fleets of large, fuel guzzling construction trucks and replace them with a commercial vacuum truck equipped with a hydro excavation system. Here’s how it works. A technician, who specializes in hydro excavation, sprays a high pressure water spraying nozzle at the exact area that requires excavation.

The high-pressure water turns the ground into a dirt and water mix called slurry. The commercial vacuum truck literally vacuums up the slurry and stores it in a tank that’s located on the back of the vacuum truck. The slurry can then be removed from the job site and permanently discarded. Since the hydro excavation method is so precise, you don’t have to store piles of the excavated dirt on the job site because you won’t need to backfill. That saves a lot of time and money. Speaking of saving time and money, the hydro excavation method can be completed much faster.

You can “dig” an entire foundation or trench in a fraction of the time that it takes when compared to the traditional excavation method. As far as being better for the environment, the hydro excavation method does not burn nearly as much fossil fuel as the traditional excavation equipment does. It also doesn’t cause as much damage to the ground. As an added bonus, hydro excavation can be done in the winter when the ground is frozen by simply adding a water heating unit to the system.
