If you own or manage real estate than you will most likely deal with a clogged sewer line from time to time. It’s just one of those annoyances that need to be taken care of. That being stated, it’s always best to take care of the issue early on before it becomes a major problem. In a worst case scenario, the clogged sewer line will back up into the building. That means raw sewage and wastewater will back up through the sewer line in the wrong direction. So, where does that raw sewage and wastewater go if it’s backing up in the wrong direction?

You are not going to like the answer. In essence, the raw sewage and wastewater will eventually back up to the point that it exists the pipe through the toilets and drains in the sinks and tubs. The raw sewage and wastewater can also back up through the disposals, and water-based appliances such as dishwashers and clothes washing machines. That is a beyond nasty mess that nobody should ever have to experience. If you notice any of the following signs, contact a clogged sewer line expert immediately. First and foremost, you will start to hear funny noises coming from the toilets and drains.

You will hear those noises every time that you flush the toilet or turn on the sink or shower or tub. It’s a telltale sign that you are experiencing a clogged sewer line. If this happens to you or anyone else in the building, get help ASAP at that point. Do not delay. Another key sign of a clogged sewer line is if you start smelling sewer gas. You’ll know that it’s sewer gas as soon as you smell it. If you have never experienced that, sewer gas smells like rotten eggs. So, if you or anyone else in the building starts to smell rotten eggs and it’s coming from the toilet or drains or is in the basement of the building call for help without delay.

The same holds true if you or anyone else starts to smell rotten eggs outside of the building. Last but certainly not least, if the toilets are not flushing properly and or the water is not draining from the sinks, showers, or tubs correctly, it’s another tell-tale sign that you have a clogged sewer line. The good news is that the backup of raw sewage and wastewater into the property can be easily avoided.
