Did you know that the hydro excavation method reigns supreme? In essence, it’s far better than the traditional excavation method. Think of it like this. How much money would you save on each project if you could get rid of all of that heavy-duty construction equipment? The operating and maintenance costs to move dirt and  dig holes in the ground with backhoes, excavators,  front end loaders, and those humongous industrial dump trucks is through the roof. The fuel costs alone is in the tens of thousands of dollars per day range.

The machine operator’s hourly wages is at the top of the list of the highest paid laborers on the entire construction site. Then there is the danger involved in the traditional excavation process. Those giant dump trucks tend to tip over quite easily. The other pieces of excavation equipment are incredibly dangerous as well and cause some of the worst accidents in the entire construction industry. You also need to factor in the timeframe. The traditional excavation process is time consuming to say the least.

It can take days, or even weeks to complete the job. What if you could save time and speed up your construction projects? Keep in mind that time is money. There’s one more factor that you need to consider. As we mentioned above, the traditional excavation method burns a ton of fuel each day. Burning all of that fuel is incredibly expensive, however, it’s also terrible for the environment. The good news is that the hydro excavation method doesn’t rely upon any of the traditional heavy-duty construction equipment.

Instead, a highly pressurized stream of water is sprayed at the area that requires excavation. The highly pressurized water turns the ground into sludge. The sludge is vacuumed up by an industrial vacuum truck, where it can be stored until it’s permanently removed. The hydro excavation method even works on frozen ground since the pressurized water can be easily heated. Another important factor about the hydro excavation method that needs to be mentioned is that the process is so precise there is no need for backfill.

In essence, the highly pressurized water acts just like a high-powered laser. What takes multiple weeks with the traditional excavation process can be reduced down to a few days with the hydro excavation process. That’s better for your schedule, your budget and your bottom line.
