Did you know that the hydro excavation process saves valuable resources? For example, if you hire a hydro excavation company instead of a traditional excavation company for your next excavation related project you will save both time and money. Here’s how. Traditional excavation costs significantly more money because it relies on the use of heavy-duty equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers and dump trucks. The trucks are incredibly expensive to purchase. That means the excavation contractors must charge their customers at a rate that covers paying for those trucks.

That certainly adds a tremendous amount of money to your bill. It is also incredibly expensive to run those trucks. Each piece of heavy-duty excavation equipment can cost thousands of dollars per day in fuel expenses alone. Then you have to factor in the other daily costs such as the driver or operator. Heavy-duty excavation equipment operators are some of the highest paid workers on the job site. When you add the traditional excavation contractors profit into the mix we’re looking at an incredibly expensive endeavor.

On the other hand, the hydro excavation process is far less expensive. First and foremost it completely eliminates the need for heavy-duty excavation trucks. Hydro excavation contractors only need a commercial vacuum truck, highly pressurized water, and one or two operators. Here’s how the hydro excavation process works. Instead of digging the ground, highly pressurized water is sprayed at the ground through a customized hose. The water is so strong that it quickly breaks up the soil or dirt and turns it into sludge. The commercial vacuum truck then sucks up the sludge through a second hose.

The sludge travels through the hose and goes into the tank on the vacuum truck. The sludge can then be removed from the job site and can be permanently disposed of offsite. The hydro excavation process is so precise that there is no need to remove extra soil or dirt that will later need to be back filled. That means there is no back fill to store and move around the site until it’s needed. It also means that the back fill step is removed from the process.

Typically speaking, a traditional excavation job that takes 2-3 weeks can be completed with the hydro excavation process in as little as 2-3 days. That’s a lot of time savings and as you’re very well aware of time equals money. So, the next time that you need an excavation job done it makes sense to contact a hydro excavation contractor to see how much time and money you will save instead of going the traditional excavation route.
