Did you know that our residential driveway drainage systems could go a long way in preventing extensive and expensive damage to both your driveway and to your home? In essence, if your driveway is failing to drain properly it can cause a great deal of problems that you do not want to deal with. First and foremost, whenever it rains outside, or the snow melts, puddles will start to form when your driveway is not draining correctly. As you may be aware, standing water does a tremendous amount of damage to both concrete and asphalt surfaces, especially when there are temperature changes caused from freezing and expansion.

It basically eats away at concrete and asphalt. Tiny cracks will begin to appear, and those tiny cracks will quickly turn into larger cracks. All it takes is a few large cracks to completely ruin your driveway. This is due to the fact that as those large cracks begin to multiply they are literally breaking up the driveway. Once that begins, and if not taken care of right away, it does not take long for your driveway to collapse entirely. If that happens you will need to have it completely replaced, which is a lot more expensive and time consuming than having it seal coated or repaved.

In addition, if your driveway collapses it will cause a significant amount of damage to the surrounding landscaping including your lawn, mulch beds, shrubbery, and even trees. Once again, these are expensive items to replace. As a temporary solution make sure that you sweep away any puddles that do not dissipate after a day or two. You need to keep in mind that is not a long-term solution. Those puddles will keep appearing. As the drainage issues becomes worse more and more puddles will appear. You certainly do not want to spend you time sweeping away those puddles.

Although it is perfectly normal for a few small puddles to appear on your driveway during torrential downpours and when the snow piles begin to melt, those puddles will disappear within a few days if your driveway is draining correctly. Additionally, during the warmer spring and summer weather, standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Not only are mosquitoes highly annoying when they bite you, they are also incredibly dangerous as well. This is due to the fact that they carry diseases that can easily be transmitted to humans.

In a worst case scenario the water that is not draining from your driveway properly will cause damage to the structure of your house. In essence, the water may very well cause a great deal of harm or even ruin your foundation. The good news is that all of these problems can be avoided with one of our residential driveway drainage systems.
