Are you currently experiencing issues with the toilets, sinks, drains, showers/tubs at your home, commercial property, or rental units? If so it may mean that your sewer pipes are blocked. Although there is a great deal of reasons why your sewer pipes are blocked one of them may be due to the invasion of tree roots. If that’s the case you will need to hire a professional that specializes in root removal from sewer pipes. At this point you may be curious how roots can end up blocking your sewer pipes. First and foremost tree roots seek out water sources in the ground.

There are sewer pipes buried under the ground at your property that attach to the city or town’s main sewer line or go directly into a private septic system that is buried underground on the property. Whenever the toilets are flushed or water goes down the drain the sewage and wastewater travel through those buried sewer pipes until it reaches the main sewer line or private septic system. The waste in those sewer pipes is the perfect source for tree roots because they contain both water and fertilizer. When the tree roots are tiny they invade into the sewer pipes through microscopic sized cracks.

Most sewer pipes, especially older ones, have microscopic cracks due to settling and age. These microscopic sized cracks do not affect the flow of raw sewage and wastewater, however they do give tree roots a means to enter into the pipe. Once the small tree roots enter into the sewer pipe, they grow quickly since they’re being fed with water and fertilizer in the form of human waste. The tree roots eventually grow to the point that they block the pipe. In essence, they act like a dam that doesn’t allow the wastewater and raw sewage to pass through.

When that happens the wastewater and raw sewage has nowhere to go, so it will start to collect inside the sewer pipes. It’s only a matter of time before the sewer pipes become full. At that point the raw sewage and wastewater will begin to back up through the sewer pipe. From there it doesn’t take long for the raw sewage and wastewater to back up into the property through the toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs. The good news is that it doesn’t need to get to that point. As soon as you begin to notice that the sewer pipes are blocked you should contact us to see if roots are the problem.

If they are we will use sophisticated root removal equipment to get to the root of the issue.
